How a Deckmoon reading works
Every reading uses the full 78-card Rider–Waite–Smith deck. When you press shuffle, the whole deck is mixed with your browser’s cryptographic random number generator, the same kind of randomness used for security keys, so no card is more likely than another. You then pick the cards yourself from a face-down spread.
Each card is read in two ways: by what it means on its own, and by the position it lands in. The same card says something different as your “past” than as your “outcome”, and different again in a love reading than in a question about money. At the end you get an overall picture that looks at the balance of the whole spread.
Which spread should you choose?
- Card of the day is one card for reflection. Good as a daily habit.
- Yes or no gives a quick lean on a single, clear question.
- Past, present, future is the classic three-card spread and the best place to start.
- Love reading looks at you, the other person and the connection between you.
- Celtic Cross is a ten-card spread for complex situations with many moving parts.
Getting the most from a reading
Tarot works best as a mirror rather than a crystal ball. Ask open questions such as “What should I focus on?” rather than “Will this happen?”, and read the cards slowly. If one image or phrase stays with you, that is often the part worth thinking about. Our guide on how to ask the tarot a good question has more ideas.
